Unrivalled vertical resolution
A key component in achieving high vertical accuracy is the AD converter. A higher number of ADC bits means more vertical resolution, translating to more accurate signal representation. For example, an oscilloscope with a 12-bit ADC can encode an analog input into 4.096 unique levels of conversion (212 = 4.096). Each additional bit doubles the number of levels of conversion. Oscilloscopes with a 14-bit ADC can encode the analog input into 16.384 levels (214 = 16.384), which is four times the resolution of oscilloscopes with a 12-bit ADC and 64 times the resolution of an 8-bit ADC.

See even the smallest signals with a noise level of only 50 µVRMS
All electronic devices, including oscilloscopes, generate some level of noise. It is important to suppress this noise as much as possible. A lower noise level means that the oscilloscope is able to accurately measure even very small signals. The Keysight InfiniiVision HD3 oscilloscopes have a noise level of only 50 µVRMS at 1 GHz bandwidth. This noise level can be further suppressed by bandwidth limiting or averaging the measured signal.

Advanced analysis options
With Keysight HD3 oscilloscopes, you can not only measure the signals, but also analyse them in detail with a wide range of tools:

  • Convert time-domain signals into frequency-domain signals using a fast Fourier transformation (FFT)
  • Compare signals to pre-defined templates for quick pass / fail analysis with mask testing
  • Analyze the statistical distribution of jitter and noise with waveform and measurement histograms
  • Perform frequency response analysis with Bode plots
  • Automatic search for user-defined phenomena, errors or anomalies in the signal using the Fault Hunter tool

7-in-1 instrument
The Keysight HD3 is not just an oscilloscope, it's actually up to 7 different instruments in one:

How to build your own Keysight HD3 oscilloscope?

1. Select the base model according to number of input channels needed

  • HD302MSO 2 channels, 200 MHz bandwidth, 20 Mpoints memory
  • HD304MSO 4 channels, 200 MHz bandwidth, 20 Mpoints memory

Included with each oscilloscope are N2843A 500 MHz, 10:1, 11 pF passive probes in numbers corresponding to the number of analog channels of the oscilloscope.
